Slipped and Broken Slates

A slipped or broken slate leaves a gap for rain to find. Acting early keeps the repair small.

  • Slipped or missing slates A gap in a course, or a slate sitting lower than the ones beside it
  • Cracked or broken slates Often noticed after high winds
  • Damp patches inside On a ceiling or in the loft, below the roof
  • Moss and lichen Heavy growth holds water against the slates

What Customers Say About H&M Roofing

Very professional company - would highly recommend. Tom and the team were quick to resolve a leak on our flat roof. Great communication throughout, reasonably priced and got the job done to a high spec quickly. Would certainly use again for any roofing work, thank you.

Thurston Butchers Google review · Flat roof leak

After dealing with a lot of roofers, several of them who seemed to be complete cowboys I am so glad that we went with H&M roofing. Tom and Jack were brilliant communicators, punctual and considerate.

Edward Taylor Google review

We were recommended H&M roofing by a friend of a friend. They came out to us when they said they would to quote for replacing our flat roofs on two porches. We were extremely happy with the quote and the work.

Questions

Slate Roofing FAQs

The size and shape of the roof, the slate you choose, how many valleys, hips and other details it has, access, and what is found once work starts. Every roof is different, so the reliable figure is a quote for yours. Quotes are free.

Yes. Slipped and broken slates can be put back or replaced on their own, and acting early stops water getting in. If slates are failing right across the roof, we'll tell you when we look at it.

Recent jobs include a Spanish slate roof on a flint cottage in Gazeley. The right slate depends on the building, and we'll talk you through it when we quote.

Usually, if the work covers more than half of the roof, or if the roof structure is altered. Re-covering a roof can also mean the insulation has to be brought up to current standards, as it was on the Gazeley roof. Check the Planning Portal or your local council before work starts, and ask us about it when we quote.
